HOUDINI seance CODE REVEALED - 1939

There is plenty of mention on this website of a secret code that Harry Houdini was going to use to communicate to his wife at his passing to convince her that it was really him and not a parlor trick by a fraudulent medium.

The code was actually based on a mind reading act that the Houdini's used to do. In front of an audience you can't use garbled messages or morse code so it would have to be something said naturally when trying to get someone's attention For instance the phrase "whats this?" might mean a watch while the phrase "what am I holding" might mean a ring.

In this case, the phrase's represented letters. The first part of the code was just the word "Rosabelle". The second part was the encrypted code which was "answer" - "tell" - "pray,answer" - "look" - "tell" - "answer,answer" - "tell". A medium who would get this message would not understand it and it would almost sound like gibberish, but to Houdini's wife it was the code used in their mind reading act and simple for her to decipher. Or when completely decoded, the secret word is "Rosabelle Believe" and for ten years after Harry Houdini's death there was a $10,000 reward for any Medium who could accurately give this information to Bess which would confirm they actually spoke with Harry Houdini from the grave. In a ten year period there were 17 seances and not one medium was able to repeat this code to Bess.
